He was selected as a foreign member of the National Academy of Engineering for his contributions to ferroelectric/ferromagnetic materials and lightweight multifunctional structural mechanics in extreme conditions.Fang Daining is mainly engaged in the research of advanced materials and structural mechanics theory, calculation and experimental methods, and has developed the macro and micro deformation and fracture theory of ferroelectric/ferromagnetic materials, which has been applied in finite element analysis and device design.His research results have been applied in high-end equipment structures such as the first international additive manufacturing satellite and the first domestic rail transit equipment main bearing force special-shaped composite suspension frame structure.Bin Liu, head of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS), has been elected as a foreign fellow of the National Academy of Engineering (NCAE) in the US for pioneering the introduction of organic electronic materials into aqueous media for biomedicine, environmental monitoring, sensors and electronic devices.Bin liu received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Nanjing University and his doctorate from The National University of Singapore.She is committed to the application of conjugated polymer luminescence materials and aggregation-induced luminescence materials in biomedicine and energy, and has made significant contributions to the application of polymer chemistry and organic materials in biomedical research, environmental monitoring and energy equipment.He commercialized many of his research results and founded LuminiCell, a company that manufactures organic light-emitting nanoparticles for medical and biological applications.Keh-chyuan Tsai is a distinguished Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Taiwan University. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering for his leadership and contributions to earthquake engineering research and steel structure design.Hongjiang Zhang, president of Beijing Zhiyuan Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, was elected as a foreign academician of the National Academy of Engineering in the United States for his technical contributions and leadership in the field of multimedia computing.Cardiss Collins professor at the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University, Jian Cao was elected to the National Academy of Engineering for pioneering flexible sheet metal forming systems and leading the manufacturing industry.Cao jian graduated from School of Materials Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.Her main research includes innovative manufacturing processes and systems, particularly those based on deformation processes and laser processes.Her research work has contributed significantly to the characterization of the effect of material structure on the forming behavior of metal and braided composites.Her research combines analytical and numerical simulation methods, controls and sensors, and design methods to advance manufacturing processes.Hsin Lin is a senior fellow at The Boeing Company’s Commercial Aircraft Research Institute in Seattle. He is one of the senior fellow at the National Academy of Engineering.Lin received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in environmental Engineering from Cheng Kung University in Taiwan in 1980 and 1982 respectively.His main research areas include computational fluid dynamics, aircraft cabin environments, multiphase flow, and fire/smoke characteristics and suppression.Yan YushanYushan Yan is the Henry B. Dupont Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Delaware. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering for his creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship in separation membranes and electrochemical reaction engineering, catalysis, and materials.Yushan Yan received his bachelor’s degree from The University of Science and Technology of China in 1988, his master’s degree in engineering from The California Institute of Technology in 1995, and his doctor’s degree in engineering from the Department of Chemical Engineering of the California Institute of Technology in 1997.He was awarded the Donald Brick Prize by the International Molecular Sieve Association in 2010 for demonstrating that molecular sieve films can be used for semiconductor insulation, corrosion protection and water separation on space stations.Taiyin Yang, Executive Vice President of Pharmaceutical Development and Manufacturing at Gilead, was elected to the National Academy of Engineering for inventing, manufacturing and marketing a single pill regimen for the treatment of HIV.Taiying Yang received her B.S. in chemistry from Taiwan University and Ph.D. in organic chemistry from university of Southern California.Since joining Gilead in 1993 She has been responsible for all of gilead’s experimental compounds and marketed products.Under her leadership, Gilead developed the world’s first single pill therapy for HIV and brought more than 25 compounds from early development to market, reaching millions of people around the world.
